milton keynes – home of f1’s finest

milton keynes – home of f1’s finest

The small town of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, home to 200’000 people and over 300 roundabouts, is one like many others; except for one detail: it is home to Red Bull Racing, the current Formula One triple world constructors and drivers champion. With the new season about to kick off (14-17 March), it was time for a visit at the factory to inspect the preparations.

social highlights in kitzbühel – part 2: hahnenkamm race

I am back in Kitzbühel after last week’s Snow Polo World Cup to watch one of the most fascinating ski races on the calendar: the Hahnenkamm race. The legendary race down one of the world’s most notorious ski runs, the Streif, is the ultimate challenge for any professional skier and absolute highlight in Kitzbühel’s social calendar.

new beginnings

A new year always means lots of changes, whether it’s higher taxes, a new Presidency in the EU Council or simply a different digit at the end of the calendar, this time 13 instead of 12. For some people it means some kind of mystical deadline to set ridiculous new year’s resolutions, most of which they usually abandon within a week or two into the new year (at least I don’t know anyone who ever stuck to theirs…).

For me 2013 first of all means looking back at 2012: what an amazing year it was, packed with exciting travel, glamorous events, and wonderful (new and old) friends; not to forget dodging the Mayan apocalypse. As 2012 came to an end, so did my stint at Kiwi Collection, the world’s largest independent luxury hotel reviewer, as I decided to leave the company after three eventful years as Regional Vice President EMEA. These years have taken me from Abu Dhabi to Zurich, Almancil to Zighy Bay (and pretty much every other-lettered city in between) visiting some of the world’s finest luxury hotels and meeting some of the most interesting people on the planet (several of which I am fortunate to be able to call my friends today).

Leaving Kiwi meant I finally had the time for a long due overhaul of my website and the result is, well, this… I hope you like it.

My personal resolution for 2013 is simple: travel more. Should be easy as I have decided to go on a sabbatical, taking some time out to explore those corners of the earth I have not yet had the pleasure to visit. Both Central and South America are still pretty much white spots on my map, something I am planning on changing over the coming months.

I look forward to sharing my travels with you here, thank you for following my blog!

the countryside in the middle of edinburgh

Edinburgh is probably not the first weekend getaway destination that comes to mind as Londoners usually prefer the cosy Cotswolds over the Scottish capital. However, with just over four hours by train, Edinburgh is a great place to escape to for the weekend. Here’s how I spent mine, opting for a combination of city and countryside experience.

one night in… Bangkok

If ever there is a befitting city for this blog series then of course it is Bangkok. After all it was Murray Head’s 1984 song ‘One night in Bangkok’ which inspired it in the first place.
