one night in… Munich

Munich is one of my favorite cities in the world. The jovial Bavarian atmosphere it oozes, combined with the influences of Northern Italy (in fact, some say it’s Italy’s northernmost city) create an immediate sense of well-being. In the very heart of the Bavarian capital, tucked away in a quiet side street off famous Maximilianstrasse is the 73-room Mandarin Oriental Munich.

With it’s Art Deco interiors and Michelin-starred restaurant, it is a popular meeting place. Apart from the classy, elegant rooms and its impeccable service, the Mandarin Oriental offers its own oasis of well-being: its rooftop lounge.

Offering sensational 360 degree views over the city, it is the perfect place for Munich’s most popular summer drink, the refreshing “Hugo”, an elderflower lime and mint spritzer. And if that’s not enough to cool you down you might as well jump in the pool. Facing Munich’s iconic Frauenkirche and Rathaus on one side and the Maximilianäum on the other with the Alps in the back, this is Munich at its best.
